Martha McCaughey

Martha McCaughey is a retired sociology professor who now works at Heterodox Academy. Martha's scholarship focuses on gender, violence, and technology. She ran the First Year Seminar program at Appalachian State and has taught first year seminars on "Living in the Digital Age" (at Appalachian) and "The Purpose of the University" (at the University of Wyoming). A Faculty Senator for many years, Martha is passionate about faculty members participating in the governance of their institutions and designing policies that protect their university's academic mission. At HxA, Martha works to help HxA members make a positive impact on their campuses and in their disciplines, and helps share what works for one set of members with the other members in our growing network.
